Project 3 → A Letter To Dad
This comic/zine is a short and sincere story about a long journey of separation, search for identity and acceptance.
It is an attempt to confront a broad variety of feelings – from fury to nostalgia – for my father and my motherland Russia. It is a reflection on childhood and struggle to come in terms with painful memories that dictate the present, to look beyond the black and white and notice the shades in between.
This project was created within 3 weeks as part of a workshop with Mawil, the artist behind the best German comic book of 2014 “Kinderland”. In addition, a short animated sequence was created as part of a short animation intensive with Aline Helmcke, a Berlin based artist and filmmaker.
