Project 1 → blush

blush is a narrative-driven 2D game about memories that shape, hurt, or heal. It is an intimate journey through a liminal dreamscape – a place to embrace loneliness and the fragile beauty of human connection, uncover secrets and unspoken feelings. No one is coming – the only way out is to follow flickers of hope through the dark, in search for meaning, acceptance — and maybe, a reason to stay.

GAMEPLAY

This clip shows a collectible piece that stands for a piece of memory of the past (in this case a shell-shaped vase). Each fragment triggers these memories one by one, adding a new page to the character’s diary and slowly weaving her story. The goal is to collect all the objects and reach the end of the journey.

ANIMATION

The game starts and ends with a short animation that gives the context and rounds up the narrative.

DIARY

The diary is the essential part of the game as it builds the story page by page, memory by memory. The spreads are designed to evoke emotion. Giving insights into the character’s world, they let the player connect and observe the adolescence through her lense of isolation and search for deeper meaning.

UI

Main UI elements are the icons for the inventory in form of a music box and the diary.

BACKGROUND ART

Backgrounds act as silent narrators and reflect the characters’ inner world.
